A pair of home runs by shortstop Annie Sarcone highlighted a strong close to the Tucson Invitational Games, as the Dutch notched a 10-4 comeback victory over Gustavus Adolphus College and a 10-3 triumph over Dickinson State University on Saturday.

In the win over Gustavus Adolphus, Central trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the fourth, but rallied for six runs on seven hits to take a 7-4 lead. Sarcone would put the game away two innings later, belting a two-run homer in the seventh. Rhianna Fleetwood stuck out six batters in 5.2 innings of work to improve her record to 5-1 on the season.

Against Dickinson State, Central saw an early 4-0 lead shrivel to 4-3 in the fifth inning, but added two runs in the sixth and got a big boost in the seventh, as Sarcone’s seventh home run of the season put three base runners across home plate. Freshman pitcher Mallory Schulenberg scattered ten hits in seven innings to improve to a surprising 5-0 on the season.

The Central College softball team leaves Arizona with a 14-2 record in tow, and will continue to face top tier competition in their non-conference schedule, starting with the St. Louis Invitational this weekend.
