Two Iowa legislative candidates made public appearances in Marion County on Saturday. House candidate Megan Suhr and Senate candidate Amy Sinclair both stopped by the Coffee Connection on Saturday morning to discuss issues that hit close to home to Marion County voters.

Sinclair, a Republican, says that lots of conversation she has had relates to rural roads. She says that parts of the roads in the southern part of this district, such as Highway 14 from Chariton to Corydon, are to the point that some parts could be classified as dangerous, and that something needs to be done.

Suhr, a Democrat, said that it’s very important that the legislature continues to fully fund the local court systems. She notes that House Republicans have voted to underfund them by about 400 million dollars this year, which could lead to consolidation of services. Suhr also visited Smokey Row in Pleasantville Saturday afternoon.
