The Marion County Board of Supervisors voted to approve the county budget during a special session yesterday morning. The total tax levy will be about nice cents lower this year due a reduction in the mental health and debt services tax levies.

Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia tells KNIA/KRLS News that the mental health reduction comes as a requirement from the state, and the debt services reduction comes as a result of refinancing bonds. The levy now stands at about ten dollars and 90 cents per thousand.

Marion County Attorney Ed Bull also informed the Supervisors that he will be staying in Clarke County during the Michael Miller trial that begins next week. During that time, assistant county attorney Tiffany Kragnes will take on some of his responsibilities at the courthouse.
