Two Charged with Felony Drug Violations and Insurance Fraud in Knoxville

KNIA/KRLS News has learned that as part of a joint investigation by officers from the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Drug Task Force, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Iowa Insurance Fraud Bureau on Thursday March 8, 2012, law enforcement officers made two arrests in an ongoing investigation of prescription drug diversion. The below subjects are charged with Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud (a Class “D” Felony) and Obtaining a Schedule II/III controlled substance through fraud, deceit and or subterfuge (a Class “C” Felony).
Arrested and charged:
Katheryne Jean Todd- age 50
Christina A Boosalis- age 50
Todd was a nurse practitioner at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. According to hospital authorities, her privileges have been suspended.
“I am saddened and disappointed an employee of the hospital and a member of this community has been charged with such alleged conduct,” said Kevin Kincaid, Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Chief Executive Officer. ”We do not tolerate illegal activity by anyone associated with our facilities. Knoxville Hospital & Clinics is dedicated to providing high quality health care and to setting the highest ethical and moral standards.”
Kincaid went on to say, “Employees not meeting those standards will not be a part of the health care team. The hospital takes seriously its responsibility to be a good corporate citizen and to comply with all regulatory requirements. The citizens of Marion County and surrounding areas can be assured Knoxville Hospital & Clinics will continue to provide personal, progressive, quality health care with compassion.”
Authorities tell KNIA/KRLS News that hospital officials offered their full cooperation throughout the investigation.
The case remains under investigation by law enforcement officers.
