Though this past season was a bit rocky for the Pleasantville girls basketball team in terms of wins and losses, the Trojans were fortunate to have a strong contingent of veteran leaders to keep the team on track. Pleasantville head coach Trevor Miller says a number of his upperclassmen brought valued skills with them to practices and games.

“They became leaders. Some are just great kids that go out for basketball to spend time with their friends, which is good, because they’re the good kids that do well in the classroom,” said Miller. “We’re going to miss Mariah Zoss’s ball-handling, Liz Moore and Morgan Lauer’s rebounding, and Jordan Vande Kamp – there were certain games where she looked really good; sitting on the wings and shooting. There was that group, and then there were players like Kyleigh Sage, who didn’t get to play a lot, but were always good to be around in practice.”

In all, eight seniors were included in the 2011-12 version of the Pleasantville girls basketball team. The Trojans finished the season 6-16 overall and were 5-11 against the Pride of Iowa Conference, which included Class 1A State Runner-Up Bedford.
