Central Golfers Overcome Cool, Windy Weather to Take Lead in Home Tourney

Battling breezy conditions, the Central College men’s golf team is tied for first after the opening round of the Central Spring Invitational Friday. The Dutch shot a 309 in the 14-team field at Bos Landen Golf Club and shares the lead with the University of Dubuque. Wartburg College is third with 315 and Iowa Western Community College and Luther College are tied for fourth at 318.

Brent Goodenow is tied for second and leads the Dutch with a 3-over-par 74. Dubuque’s Eric Wolfe heads the 87-player field with 73. The final round of the 36-hole tournament gets underway at 9:00 a.m. today.
