Freshman Anna Striegel captured two wins but the Central College women’s tennis team fell short against Northwestern Saturday, suffering a 5-4 setback.

Striegel teamed with Emily Koontz at No. 3 doubles for an 8-1 victory before claiming a come-from-behind win at No. 4 singles, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0. After a tight 9-7 defeat at No. 2 doubles, Sarah Montgomery battled back at No. 5 singles, blanking her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Blake Taylor won at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-4.

Central is now 8-12 overall and 2-3 this spring, and will have its last outing of the nontraditional spring season April 10th, facing Simpson College (8-8 overall, 0-1 spring) at Indianola at 4 p.m.
