Shortstop Mike Furlong launched his third homerun of the season of the season, sparking a game two comeback to give the Central College baseball team a split in Saturday’s Iowa Conference doubleheader at the University of Dubuque and leading the Dutch to their third straight series win. Central claimed a 4-1 win in the nightcap after the Spartans took the opener 1-0.

Furlong’s opportunity was set up by stingy pitching from the Dutch, as Dirk Lindaman and Judson McCown stymied the Dubuque offense. McCown improved his record to 4-1 on the season. Joel Pulliam took the loss in game one, his first of the season.

The Central College baseball team is now 19-5 on the season and 9-2 in the Iowa Conference. They’ll hit the road again on Tuesday to face Simpson College in a nine-inning contest. Central swept the Storm in a doubleheader in Pella this past week.
