Today is World Health Day, and Marion County Public Health Director Kim Dorn has some tips to help your family and you stay healthy. Dorn encourages physical activity every day; children should get about 60 minutes total, and adults 30. She says that you should try to choose foods with less sugar and fat. You can eat less by avoiding oversized portions and making half of your plate fruits and vegetables.

Dorn says you may want to follow recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics that state children should watch no more than two hours of television programming a day. Finally, she adds that people should consider planning family trips to parks and other outdoor locations.
