A tightly-contested Little Hawkeye Conference showdown between the Pella Christian and Newton boys soccer teams swung in favor in the Cardinals in the final minutes and handed the Eagles a 4-2 setback – just their first conference loss of the season.

Behind goals from Dan Hessing and John Admiraal, Pella Christian found themselves tied 2-2 on Newton’s home field with just four minutes to go, but the Cardinals found a way to put in two late goals to rally for the win.

Freshman goalkeeper Alek Vink had 18 saves before leaving the game with injury. Jordan Van Maanen – who started the season between the posts – tallied 6 saves. The Pella Christian boys soccer team is now 5-3 overall.
