Pella Christian sends its tennis teams to Johnston today, as the Eagles are competing in a pair of invitationals. The Pella Christian girls are looking to pick up some quality wins against strong competition after cruising past Albia in this week’s season debut. Lady Eagles’ head coach Faith Bliss says today’s field will push her squad to improve.

“There’s some tough teams there. We’ve played before in this tournament, and they’ve proven to us that there’s a little bit more that we need to work on here and there,” said Bliss. “It’ll be a good challenge for us and it’ll be good to get out and play on a Saturday.”

The boys squad, meanwhile, found some positives in a season-opening loss to Davis County and will try and get one step better against today’s competition. The Johnston Tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. today for the boys and at 9:00 a.m. for the girls.
