It was a record-breaking season debut for the PCM boys golf team, as the Mustang’s broke the previous team score record by four strokes, finishing with a 140 to win a triangular with Lynnville-Sully and Eddyville-Blakesburg in Lynnville. PCM was 17 strokes ahead of the Rockets and 40 shots ahead of the Hawks. The previous team score record of 144 was set by PCM’s 2008 State Championship team.

Atop the leaderboard were the Mustangs’ Logan Van Veen, Hunter Van Veen, Devon Woody and Michael Neff, who all shot one-under par 35s to tie for medalist honors. Coach Mike Smith said the team’s short game was a strength, and felt being able to be on the course early because of the unseasonably warm spring was a big benefit to the team. The PCM boys golfers are back in action on Monday at the Bondurant Invite.
