Placing two golfers in a tie for first place, the PCM boys golf team came away with another impressive victory, earning first place out of a seven-team field at an invitational hosted by Bondurant-Farrar Monday evening at the Terrace Hills Golf Course. Hunter Van Veen and Ryan Jennings each carded a 37 to squeeze their way into a six-way tie for medalist honors at the meet. Their scores helped the Mustangs tally a combined score of 152, and a tiebreaker gave them the win over South Hamilton, which also shot a 152.

“This was a very good win for us. It came down to the 5th golfers score to break the tie. It really had the feel of a state meet with 2 of the top 5 in the state playing in this invite. Both South Hamilton and Des Moines Christian made the State Meet last year and both return all their top golfers this season,” said Mustangs’ coach Mike Smith. “Knowing we can play with the state favorites in Class 2A is a very good feeling and now gives us something to build on.”

South Hamilton 152, Des Moines Christian 162, Bondurant Farrar 173, Colfax Mingo 175, North Polk 177 and CMB 205.
In third place was Bondurant-Farrar (173), followed by Colfax-Mingo (175), North Polk (177) and CMB (205). The PCM boys will golf again on Thursday in a meet hosted by Dallas Center-Grimes.
