In their second match of the season, the PCM boys found themselves in a thrilling match on the soccer pitch at Chariton, but fell in an overtime shootout 7-5. The Mustangs and Chargers were deadlocked much of the way, as the score was tied 2-2 at intermission and regulation ended at 3-3.

Overtime almost never happened, though, as PCM goalkeeper Ryan Donahue had to stop a penalty kick with :30 seconds remaining to send the match to extra minutes. Donahue finished the night with 12 saves.

The two teams battled through two scoreless ten-minute overtime periods, eventually forcing a best-of-five shootout. The Chargers put in four of their five attempts, while PCM put goals from Zac Waddell and Rhett Gainey into the back of the net, falling two goals short. The Mustangs’ goals in regulation came from Waddell, Jamison Goodyk and a throw-in goal from Dylan Albright.

The PCM boys soccer team is now 0-2 on the season.
