Maintaining the offensive mojo they had established early in the week, the Pella High boys soccer team scored a combined 14 goals en route to Saturday’s 2nd Annual Tulip Tournament title.  Under cloudy and cool conditions, the Little Dutch – along with teams from Albia, Indianola and Ottumwa – played three matches at the Pella Soccer Complex.  Only Grinnell played two.

In round one, the Little Dutch blanked Albia 3-0, then doubled their output with a 6-0 defeat of Ottumwa in round three to advance to the championship game.  Facing an Indianola team that had been defeated by Grinnell but beat Albia, the Pella High boys kept their shut-out intact with a sound 5-0 victory over the Indians.  The sweep bolsters Pella’s record to 10-2-1.  They’re off all of next week for Tulip Time activities and will return to the pitch on May 8th against Norwalk.
