Though it came against a short-handed Knoxville team, the Pella Christian girls tennis squad looked sharp in an 11-0 win over the Panthers earlier this week, and the defending Little Hawkeye Conference champions appear to be off to a strong start in defending their title. Lady Eagles’ head coach Faith Bliss says she’s been very pleased with the play in singles, but thinks work in doubles play will see more attention in upcoming practices.

“We definitely need to hit doubles a little bit more. We’ve been doing a lot of singles in practice the first couple of weeks,” said Bliss. “We’ve just touched on the strategy of doubles, where they’re hitting and where they should be hitting. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we’ll see an improvement on that side.”

The Pella Christian girls tennis team is enjoying a small break from competition before travelling to Oskaloosa on Monday to face the Indians.
