The much anticipated home debut is upon the Pella High girls golf team, as the Lady Dutch get to host Fairfield this afternoon. The meet also serves as the first competition for new head coach Wade VanVark, and he says he’s got just as much anxiety and excitement about the competition as his players.

“For me, personally, being the first [meet] ever as the head coach here, I’ve got a little bit of the butterflies in the stomach; just some things that I am anticipating and a little anxious about, but mostly I’m just excited to get things going,” said VanVark.

“The girls have put a lot of time and a lot of effort in over the past few weeks, and it’ll be nice to get the season underway – especially at home – and give them a chance to kind of see some of the fruits of their labor.”

The dual meet between the Lady Dutch and Trojans is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon at the Bos Landen Golf Club in Pella.
