Behind an eye-popping team score, the Pleasantville girls golf team cruised to the team title in a meet against rival Carlisle Tuesday evening. The Trojans shot a combined 172 – 33 strokes better than the Wildcats – at the Countryside Golf Club in Norwalk.
Pleasantville girls’ head coach Dan Calhoun said the 172 ranked in the top ten lowest nine-hole scores he’d seen in 38 years of coaching the Trojans. He added that Pleasantville squad that won the state title a season ago shot a 188 at the same course last season.
Calhoun’s tightly clustered scorers were led by medalist Ashley Jahner’s 39. Teammate Morgan Marsh was close behind at runner-up with a 41.
