The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved installing a notification system into the Public Health Building during their regular meeting yesterday morning. The system would be attached to the alarm system and would automatically dial the Marion County Dispatch Center if the alarm is triggered. Currently, the system only notifies people in the building. If there were a fire in the building at night, there would be no notification to the proper authorities until someone witnessed it and called it in.

The phone line system was the most inexpensive of the three systems offered, costing about $2300. The Board agreed that it was a step in the right direction to protect the investment they’ve made in that building. They said that they’ll discuss other county-owned buildings in future meetings.
