A pair of local high school boys golf teams took the top to spots in the team standings at Saturday’s Colfax-Mingo Invitational, as the PCM boys took first place, followed by Pella Christian.  The Mustangs shot a combined 313 to lead the nine-team field, while the Eagles finished 17 strokes back with a 330 – 7 strokes better than host Colfax-Mingo, who took third.

Leading the way for the PCM boys were individual medalist and meet runner-up Devon Woody and Hunter Van Veen, who carded rounds of 74 and 75, respectively.  Pella Christian also clustered their top scorers, as Justin Stravers fired an 80 to take 5th place; with teammate Brennan Veenstra right behind him at 81 to earn sixth place overall in the 18-hole competition.

The two teams will see each other again shortly, as they’ll both be included in the field in Tuesday’s North Mahaska Invite.
