The Pella Christian girls soccer team played in its third consecutive overtime match Thursday night, and after splitting a win and a loss in the previous two, the Lady Eagles were able to come away victorious with a 2-1 shootout victory over Carlisle. Christina Nolte opened the scoring with a first-half goal to give Pella Christian a 1-0 lead that would hold until late in the second half, when the Wildcats found the back of the net and tied things at 1-1.

After a pair of scoreless ten-minute overtime periods, the two teams lined up for a penalty kick shoot-out. Both sides scored on their first two kicks, but then Pella Christian goalkeeper Jenna Roose denied the Wildcats’ next two kicks and teammates Bri Warden and Lindsey Pierson put their shots through the goal to seal the victory. Defense again led the way for the Lady Eagles, as Kayla Groenendyk, Kayla Van Wyk and Shelby Sytsma all had 30 stops or more.
