An opportunity for victory again slipped away from the Pella Christian girls soccer team, as the Lady Eagles found themselves on the wrong side of a 2-1 shoot-out loss Thursday night against Winterset.

Pella Christian was on the board first, though, thanks to a goal from Marissa Ferguson just over midway through the first half.  It seemed like the lone goal would hold, but the Huskies took advantage of a scramble in front of the Lady Eagles’ goal to put in the game-tying goal with just minutes left – eventually forcing overtime.  After two scoreless overtime periods, the match went to a shootout, with Winterset coming out on time.

It was the fifth overtime game of the season for the Pella Christian girls, and the third time the match was ended in a shoot-out.
