A very challenging stretch to the start of the season continues this evening for the Pella Christian softball team. The Lady Eagles are looking for their first win of the season, following a pair of losses over the weekend to Des Moines Christian. Pella Christian head softball coach Nate Van Wyk says while the start of the season has been tough, he likes having his team face some of the best.

“No rest for the weary! I took a look at our schedule this year and thought, ‘I know we’ve got a young team, but I want to play good competition’,” said Van Wyk. “You don’t get any better by playing competition you can walk all over, so you get better by playing good teams and you see how good you are by playing good teams – and that’s what we want to do.”

Tonight’s varsity game against Class 3A preseason No. 14 Albia starts at approximately 7:30 p.m. in Albia.
