The boys golf teams from PCM and Pella Christian each advanced out of Friday’s Class 2A Sectional Meet in Monroe, but it was how the Mustangs took first the garnered much of the attention. PCM shot a school record 18-hole team score of 289 at the Gateway Golf Course; winning the team title by a staggering 42 strokes. The previous school record was 296.

Hunter Van Veen tied a school record with a three-under par 69 to take medalist honors and lead the Mustangs – whose top four scores took the top four spots individually as well. Devon Woody claimed runner-up honors with a 72. For Pella Christian, the Eagles shot a very respectable 331 to tie for second place with Clarke of Osceola. Drew Stravers had the low round for Pella Christian with a 78.

Both Pella Christian and Clarke will advance, along with PCM, to Thursday’s Class 2A District Golf Meet at Lake Panorama.
