Pella Christian, Pella High Boys Soccer Both in Substate Finals Today

A pair of big postgame matches are on the docket tonight for the Pella Christian and Pella High boys soccer teams, as both squads find themselves in their respective Substate Finals with a berth in the State Tournament on the line.

In Class 1A, Pella Christian is riding high on the emotion of a 2-1 overtime win over PCM in the Substate Semifinals on Wednesday, but will face a Nevada squad that is tradition-rich and coming off of a sound 6-1 semifinal win over Des Moines Christian.

In Class 2A, the Pella High boys are hopeful to punch what has been an elusive ticket to State in recent seasons. After rolling past Newton 8-0 on Wednesday, they’ll face Dallas Center-Grimes on the Mustangs’ home field. Both matches are scheduled to begin at noon today in Nevada and at Dallas Center-Grimes High School, respectively.
