In another step toward postseason success, the Pella High boys tennis team faltered only once in a 10-1 victory Thursday night against Knoxville. Playing on the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts in Knoxville, the Little Dutch worked yet another player into their No. 1 singles position, giving Michael Schemm his first start at the top seed for Pella High.

“Michael Schemm made the most of his opportunity at #1 singles today. That makes him the fourth Pella male to play #1 singles this year,” said Little Dutch head coach Nick Seipel. “It shows just how deep we are to have four guys capable of competing at a high level.”

Schemm defeated the Panthers’ Brandon Iddings 6-4, 6-2. Knoxville’s victory came at No. 3 singles, where Jake Shives swept Bailey Tripp 6-1, 6-1. Quickly approaching for both programs is the Little Hawkeye Conference boys tennis tournament, which will be held Monday in Grinnell.
