Former Drake University star and Pella native Klayton Korver is back in his hometown for the Tulip Time celebration and to steer an effort to raise money for a community project in honor of a local teen.

Klayton is the Director of his older brother’s charity – the Kyle Korver Foundation – which is hosting a t-shirt sale in memory of Blake Van Vark.  The 16-year-old student tragically passed away in February of this year from injuries sustained in a car accident.  Wanting to do something for the Van Vark family and to benefit the Pella community, Seer Outfitters – the clothing line that benefits the efforts of the Kyle Korver Foundation – is donating its signature t-shirts with the sales utilized to raise money for a future sports park in Pella to memorialize and honor Blake for years to come.

Klayton says the response to the fundraiser has been amazing, with over $10,000 raised this past Saturday alone.  Several pieces of sports memorabilia have also been donated to help with the fundraiser as well.  The sales officially began Wednesday and will continue through Saturday.  T-shirts are $10 each and are being sold in the space right beside the newly-opened “Brew House” on Franklin Street in downtown Pella from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
