The Central College men put up two seasonal best performances Thursday to qualify for the finals in the 4×100 and 4×400-meter relays at the NCAA Division III track and field championships. In the first running event of the day, the foursome of Mitch Wagoner, Logan Danko, Kyle Wood, and Allen Scovel took second in their heat with a time of 41.18 seconds to gain a spot in Saturday’s final. The top two finishers in each heat gained an automatic bid. Later in the evening, the squad of Wood, Trevor Veach, Alex Edwards, and Scovel crossed the line in three minutes, 14.22 seconds to advance to the final, also on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Central’s decathlete duo of Ethan Miller and Eric Larson sit in second and sixth respectively after the first day of competition. For the Central women, All-American indoor pentathlete Caitlin Wilson finds herself in 16th place after the first day of the heptathlon. The Dutch will look to conclude the multi-event competitions today, while the throwers on the men’s and women’s teams also begin their meets.
