A three-over-par 75 by medalist Drew Stravers earned the Pella Christian boys golf team its first invitational victory of the season Monday afternoon in Grinnell. Stravers earned the top individual spot by putting in a birdie on his first playoff hole, and led a tightly-clustered field of Eagle golfers to a combined score of 327; just six strokes in front of second-place Des Moines Christian. Host Grinnell was close behind with a 335.

The win over Des Moines Christian is significant, as not only are the Lions the No. 6-ranked team in Class 2A, but will also be in the field in Pella Christian’s Sectional Meet on Friday. The Eagles hit the course again today at North Mahaska.
