Three errors in the last two innings likely cost Knoxville a victory over Grinnell in baseball last night as the Panthers fell to the Tigers 6-2. After Grinnell jumped on top 3-0, the Panthers got on the board when Kevin Woodhouse knocked in Bryce Zoutte. Zoutte would score Knoxville’s other run in the sixth inning, but a missed infield pop up and two throwing errors allowed two more Grinnell runs to come around after Knoxville trimmed the lead to 4-2 in the sixth. Coach Joel Johnson says it comes down to reminding the players of not making mistakes to the point they have it ingrained in the memory banks. Zoutte took the loss going six innings giving up four runs on eight hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Steven Watson pitched the final inning of relief. Knoxville goes to two-and-five on the season and one-and-one in the Little Hawkeye Conference and will travel to Chariton tonight.
