A scoring spike midway through Thursday night’s contest helped the PCM baseball team to rebound from their lopsided loss to North Polk by beating South Tama 7-1. The Mustangs put the first two runs of the game on the board in the third inning, then followed that up with five more in the fourth frame to seize control of the game.

Giving PCM confidence to win was starting pitcher Ethan Kain, who threw five scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and striking out seven Trojan batters. At the plate, it was a solid outing for Hutch Burns, who notched an RBI and scored a pair of runs while going 2-for-4 on the night.

The PCM baseball team improves their overall record to 10-2 and takes today off before playing in a tournament Saturday at East Marshall.
