The Knoxville Softball Squad enjoyed a much needed weekend off from tournament play this week as the Panthers were able to reflect on a week that did not start off well, but ended with back-to-back conference wins. Knoxville lost to Winterset on Tuesday 16-6. While the highlight was Cheyenne Jones’ grand slam…the Panthers were outmanned by the Class 4A number eight Huskies. However Wednesday and Friday were much better as Knoxville had to come from behind against Grinnell as Eighth-Grader Rikki Hall got the game winning R-B-Is in the seventh to secure the win. Friday, pitcher Emily Wallace threw her first career shutout in a 1-0 victory over Oskaloosa in a game that saw many of her teammates in the field make game and inning saving plays. The Panther begin a week where they have five games in five days starting tomorrow against Newton.
