The Knoxville Softball Squad allowed ten unearned runs in a nightmare sixth inning and fell to Newton last night 11-1. The Panthers and Cardinals were tied at one going into Newton’s half of the sixth when Knoxville committed an error on what looked like a double play ball that would have ended the inning. However, four more errors allowed the runs to score. Knoxville Coach Steph Christner said the girls lost all confidence during that inning. Knoxville’s run came in the third inning when Haley Worrall singled home Marissa Lenger to tie the game. Emily Wallace took the loss going six innings. Knoxville drops to 4-7 on the season and 2-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, the Panthers travel to the Chariton Invitational today to play the host Chargers and Clarke.
