The Pella High baseball team gets a second straight night off this evening and are using that time to prepare for Saturday’s big meeting in Des Moines. Again this season the Little Dutch will face Pella Christian in a non-conference clash at Principal Park. It’s a game that players, coaches and fans have all come to look forward to.

“I think everything about the game is exciting,” says Pella High first baseman Brett Kingery. “Just being able to play in that kind of ball park and against our cross-town rivals – the game’s always fun.”

“I think we bring out the best in each other,” adds teammate Trevor Wood. “It’s never been a blowout game. Whoever’s beating each other in the standings – it really doesn’t matter – I mean, Pella/Pella Christian – it’s going to be a good game. We all know that, and it definitely makes it exciting.”

The Pella High baseball team is currently sitting on a 12-10 overall record, while Pella Christian is at 5-15 and trying to snap a losing skid tonight at Fairfield. Saturday’s game between the Little Dutch and the Eagles will begin at noon at Principal Park in Des Moines and will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS.
