The Pella High softball team earned three wins in three nights to begin the week, and going back to last weekend have won five straight. Keeping that streak alive will be a tall task, though, as Lady Dutch head coach Krista DeMeulenaere says her team is entering a rugged stretch of league opponents – starting tonight.

“We have three biggies in the conference, because we’ve got Norwalk [tonight], then we face Newton Monday and Osky Wednesday. So these are the three big ones,” said DeMeulenaere. “We just have to keep believing and have to keep pushing forward. All those pitchers that throw for those teams are good pitchers, but they’re also all pitchers that we can get our bat on the ball and try to make something happen. So it’s going to be an exciting week for us – and a challenging week for us.”

Tonight’s contest with the Warriors in Norwalk is the last opponent on Pella High’s first trip through the Little Hawkeye Conference schedule, in which they only been toppled by Oskaloosa. The Lady Dutch are 12-4 overall and 4-1 in league play.
