Rain created a big gap in the schedule, but the Pella High softball team was still able to get in both of their games Saturday at the Ames Softball Invite.

The Lady Dutch were overpowered in their opening contest against North Scott, falling 7-0.  Starting pitcher Bri Arkema took the loss in the circle; while the Pella defense was held to just five hits – two of which came from Morgan Ernst.  In their second contest of the day, Pella mustered up some more offense – but not quite enough – as they fell 7-1 to the host Little Cyclones.  Diana Zabrodova had a pair of hits to lead the way for the Lady Dutch, while teammates McKenna Rozenberg and Sierra Williams each slugged doubles.

The pair of losses drop the Pella High softball team to 14-10 overall.  They’ll take their 4-4 conference mark to Grinnell on Monday.
