Another classic outing between the Pella Christian and Pella High baseball teams unfolded in the picturesque venue of Principal Park in Des Moines, with the Eagles making a late charge to secure a 9-5 victory.

The two teams jockeyed back-and-forth with the lead, as neither squad could grasp more than a one-run advantage until the final inning.  After posting two runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead, Pella Christian unleashed the bats in the seventh, scoring four runs to seize control of the game.

Caleb Morgan went 3-for-4 for the Eagles with two doubles and an RBI; while teammate Dan Hessing was 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.  On the mound, Will VandeVoort pitched six solid innings, scattering seven hits and walking two Pella batters while striking out four to earn the win.  Andrew Vander Hart earned the save in the seventh inning.

For Pella High, catcher Daniel Langenfeld was the only player with multiple hits, as he went 2-for-3 on the afternoon.  The Little Dutch used four pitchers in the contest, with Brett Kingery taking the loss in 2 1/3 innings of work.  The win puts Pella Christian at 6-16 overall and snapped a ten-game losing skid; while Pella High is now 12-11 overall.

Both teams hit the road for Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheaders Monday night. The Eagles travel to Oskaloosa, while the Little Dutch hit the road to face Grinnell.
