For the third straight year, Central College’s Tyler Crouse has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team. Crouse, a recent graduate, compiled a 3.42 cumulative grade point average with a biology major. He’s the first student-athlete from the men’s track and field program to receive distinction three times.

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must post a 3.30 or better combined GPA and compete in an NCAA Division III indoor or outdoor championship or finish the regular season ranked in the top 35 in the nation in an individual event. Crouse was a three-time national qualifier. He advanced to the NCAA outdoor championships in May and finished 17th in the hammer throw. Crouse competed in the discus at the 2009 and 2011 national outdoor meets. He was a four-time Iowa Conference individual champion and nine-time all-league performer.

A team co-captain, Crouse helped Central capture four consecutive outdoor league crowns, two indoor titles and two top-10 finishes at the national outdoor championships. The Dutch men have had 17 athletes win the honor 22 times.
