The Knoxville Baseball Squad’s game with Chariton seemed to be a microcosm of the season last night. The Panthers fell to the Chargers 12-6 when they fell behind early 7-1, and clawed back into it in the sixth inning to within one at 7-6, only to see Chariton slam the door with five more runs in the seventh. Knoxville Coach Joel Johnson while disappointed with the loss, was pleased with the progress his team made in the last half of the season. Two of the five seniors came up with key hits in that sixth inning to get Knoxville back in it. Steve Watson ripped an R-B-I double, and was followed by Bryant McWilliams getting an R-B-I single of his own. In all for McWilliams, he went 3/4 with two R-B-Is. Justin Katich took the loss going two innings giving up six runs on four hits, two walks and no strikeouts. Bryce Zoutte pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief and Jake Kendall pitched the final inning and a third. Knoxville finishes at 8-26 on the season.
