The 2012 softball season comes full circle tonight for the Pella Christian and Pleasantville programs, as the two squads meet again in Pleasantville – in a rematch of the season opener. The Trojans claimed a 4-1 win in that contest on May 21st, but Lady Eagles head coach Nate Van Wyk says a lot has changed for both programs in the past six weeks.

“You can’t put a whole lot of stock in that first game of the season. We know that the pitcher they throw [Liz Moore] throws pretty well – nothing we’ve seen before,” said Van Wyk. “I think we had a little bit of beginning-of-the-season, first-game jitters in that game. We made mistakes that cost us, and that was the difference in the ballgame… If we can shore up those mistakes and score a few more runs, I think we’ll be ok.”

Trojans’ head coach Robert Friday declined to make himself available for comments on tonight’s match-up, which sees Pella Christian put their 7-21 overall record up against a 10-21 Pleasantville squad in the opening round of the Class 2A Regional Softball Tournament. You can hear live coverage of the game on 92.1 fm KRLS with Eric Gotschall providing the play-by-play, starting at 7:00 p.m.
