An extra $1,000 has been put up for this Sunday’s Inaugural Capitani Classic at the Knoxville Raceway to whet the appetite for sprint car fans and drivers alike. The raceway announced yesterday that a dash has been added to the format that will pay $1,000 to the winner, and will have no bearing on the A-Main line up. Knoxville Raceway General Manager Toby Kruse says the dash will be open to the quick qualifier from each state or province represented on Sunday. Select fans will also get in on the fun as they will draw the positions for the drivers, similar to a “revenge draw.” Kruse ads that foreign drivers will be eligible for the dash as their provinces will be treated similar to the states of the United States. The A-Main will pay $5,000 to win and $500 to start.
