Day one of the 52nd Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals is tonight. Over 100 drivers have entered the biggest sprint car event of the year. Donny Schatz is the defending champion and he is scheduled to race tonight as is past champion Steve Kinser, also Knoxville Raceway regulars Dustin Selvage, Rager Phillips, and Don Droud Jr. Another driver that will be running tonight has already won during Iowa Sprint Week is Shane Stewart. Stewart won the 360 Nationals last week becoming the first driver to win the event three straight years and in doing so became the first driver to ever win four times. He says after finishing runner up last year to Schatz he feels it is now his time. No driver has ever swept the 360 and 410 Nationals in the same year.
