Week one of the high school football season opens Friday night, and for most of the teams playing it will be their first game of the season and their first step in preparing for the district schedules. The Pella Christian football team has a non-district schedule with plenty of local flavor this season, as the Eagles will take on nearby Lynnville-Sully for the first time in a few years and will continue their rivalry with PCM. Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski says the first two games out of the chute should be a great preparation for a challenging slate of district opponents.

“I think that we’ve got a very competitive schedule throughout, but also I think that our non-district schedule will be great preparation,” said Kacmarynski.

“PCM has been a great program for years and years, and Coach Bonnett has taken over and done a great job – had a great season last year. Lynnville-Sully’s kind of got it going on right now, as well. They went to the State Quarterfinals last year and lost to the state champs in the quarterfinals, and they have the majority of their team back from last year – so they’re a very experienced team.”

“I think that we’re going to be going against two very fine ball clubs in the non-district season. I think it’ll definitely prepare us for our district schedule.”

Pella Christian’s season opener Friday night kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Lynnville-Sully and will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS.
