A pair of swimmers from Pella’s USA Swimming team found success representing their community and their state over the weekend in the USA Swimming 14 & Under Central Zone Championships. Fourteen-year-olds Samantha Hedrick and Isaak Webb competed against other top swimmers from throughout the midwest at the competition, which was held in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

Highlights from the three-day meet included an eighth-place finish for Webb in the Boys 100-Meter Breaststroke; with a time of 1:13.59. Webb also added matching 15th-place finishes in the 200-Meter Breaststroke and 200-Meter Individual Medley races.

Both swimmers were also selected to swim as part of relay teams, which included Samantha Hedrick swimming the third leg of the third-place finishing Girls “A” 200-Meter Freestyle Relay. Isaak Webb swam on four relay teams, including the “A” Division 400-Meter Medley Relay that earned fourth place and the fifth-place “A” 200-Meter Medley Relay.

The relay teams were comprised of the other top swimmers from Iowa in a given event, with swimmers competing as “Team Iowa” in those events.
