The PCM volleyball team has spent early practices doing a little scrambling to fill a key position in the varsity line-up that they thought would be covered this fall. Shortly before the official start of practices, Mustangs’ head coach Mike Vittetoe learned that Sierra Scarnatti – who would be a senior – was moving out of the district and would not return as the team’s setter.

“It’s going to kind of throw us for a loop there. We need to figure out who our setter is going to be now, because we ran a 5-1 [offense] last year, and she was our setter,” said Vittetoe. “We were planning on her being our setter again this year, so now we’re going to take a look [at our team] and we’re going to need someone to step up and into that position.”

PCM’s volleyball season begins a week from today with a tournament Tuesday, August 21st, at Dallas Center-Grimes.
