Pleasantville’s football team gets in one final run-through today before opening the season Friday night at Eddyville-Blakesburg. Trojans’ head coach Gabe Bakker says this week has featured an emphasis on going hard all game long – even between plays – and getting comfortable with a playbook that features some changes from a year ago.

“Other than just schemes, we’ve just been trying to hit on the effort and speed in between plays – run back to the huddle, run back to the line, just the little things,” said Bakker.

“Scheme-wise, there’s some similarities, but not a whole lot. The biggest thing has been terminology. The kids had been doing one thing [last year] and now it’s called something different, so there’s some teaching in there.”

Kick-off in Eddvyille is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday night. You can hear the Pleasantville football game streamed live at kniakrls.com.
