The season opener for the Pella Christian football team is just days away, and though the Eagles certainly graduated a number of valuable seniors from a season ago, they’ve got a new crop of veterans ready to step in and lead the way. Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski says his starting quarterback from a season ago has set a great example for everyone on the team – particularly the underclassmen.

“Our seniors have done a good job of leading, particularly Adam Howerzyl. Adam was elected co-captain by his team earlier this year and has done a fantastic job of leading,” said Kacmarynski.

“[He] made every workout, [and] led every workout – along with several of his senior teammates. They did a good job leading with enthusiasm, so I felt like our offseason workouts – particularly our summer training – went really well.”

The Pella Christian football team opens play in Class 1A this season on Friday night, making the short trip to Lynnville-Sully.
