Early Mistakes Doom Knoxville Against Carlisle

Knoxville fell behind early to Carlisle on Homecoming night and could not recover from a 20-0 hole and fell to the Wildcats last night 34-13. The Panthers self-destructed in the first quarter with four major penalties that would either give Carlisle the ball back on a special teams mistake or extending a drive. Knoxville did seem to right the ship late in the first half when the Panthers scored on a Colton Spaur three yard run to cut the deficit to 20-7 at the half. Knoxville seemed to grab more momentum when Spaur scored his second touchdown to cut the Carlisle lead down to seven. However the Wildcats option attack was too much to overcome as they scored twice in the fourth quarter to slam the door. Knoxville Coach Troy Rider said the start plus the early mistakes told the tale. Spaur had 59 yards on the ground on 14 carries as the Panthers were outgained 322 yards to 161. Knoxville falls to 2-4 on the season and 0-3 in district eight play with a trip to Chariton next week.
