It’s Homecoming night for the Pella High football team, and following a 35 – 7 trouncing of Carlisle last week, the Little Dutch are looking to stay unblemished in Class 3A District 8 games. In the aforementioned game versus Carlisle, Pella was able to force six turnovers on defense. Pella High Football Coach, Jay McKinstrey, says that the key to victory this week against visiting Chariton will be getting a big enough lead and not giving them a chance to get back into the game. “They’ve playe4d well in the first half and they’ve played well early, and if you let them hang around, anything can happen,” McKinstrey said. “We’ve seen some teams in our district have that happen this year. You let a team hang around like that, and you’ll get beat in the fourth quarter. That certainly is a concern of ours tonight for a Chariton team that is young like that and eager for a w in.” Chariton comes into the match-up winless in Class 3A District 8 play with a 1 – 4 record overall. Pella has an overall record of 3 – 2. Tonight’s game will be streamed live at kniakrls.com with Jamie Brockman providing the play-by-play. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. tonight with kickoff set for 7:30. You can also catch a delayed broadcast of the game immediately following the Pella Christian football game on 92.1 KRLS.
