M-D Football Team Trying to Maximize Bye Week

Following last Friday’s 78-28 drubbing of Seymour, the Melcher-Dallas football team is trying to keep their engine warm as they prepare for their next opponent. The challenge is, that opponent is another week away.

Due to former Eight-Man District 5 team Harmony dropping their varsity football program for this season and next year, the Saints now have a “bye” week on their schedule. Melcher-Dallas head football coach Ryan Conrad says even though the Saints don’t have an opponent to focus on for this Friday night, they’ve still been trying to build on their successful start to the season and maximize what they can get out of their time on the practice field.

“They really responded well [in practice] last week. As we continue to grow to get where we want to be, we know we want to take advantage of our practice time, because there’s a limited amount of opportunities that you get in a season to get better,” said Conrad. “We definitely don’t want to waste these [practices]. We want to make the most out of our opportunities and look to continue this path of growth that we’re on.”

The Melcher-Dallas football team has averaged 56 points per game in their three double-digit wins this season and will fully turn their focus on Moravia next week. The Saints will host the Mohawks on September 14th.
